GridNetworks upgrades GridCasting platform
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - April 08, 2008

GridNetworks has unleashed the next generation of its GridCasting technology platform, offering improved service integrity, usage reporting and analytics for content providers, as well as a better viewing experience for online consumers.

GridCasting technology is based on the company’s GridCast Connecter, a consumer client application, and Grid Network Control, a network-hosted system that manages real-time service management and network-friendly video streams, the company said.

Grid Network Control and GridCast Connectors work together, enabling millions of viewers to simultaneously watch TV programming on the Internet. The two technologies allow for a TV experience without re-buffering or interruptions.

The new GridCasting service offers a better, more “sticky” viewing experience for consumers and a reliable Internet broadcast delivery service for the entertainment industry.

Consumers visiting a GridNetworks-powered content site will be able to view full-screen, high-definition (HD) quality video through standard video player applications, the company said. And the new service provides Nielsen-type data and analytics.

Additionally, the new GridCasting platform enables GridNetworks to better control the orchestration of TV delivery to large-scale audiences across the dynamics of the Internet, and to provide greater levels of security for online content through improvements in its back office GridMedia Gateway service, the company said.

“We’re unlocking the power of Internet television by enabling media companies to predictably scale and monetize content while providing a seamless, high-quality viewing experience for their audiences,” said GridNetworks CEO Tony Naughtin. “Our new GridCasting service provides the data and analytics needed to build profitable, sustainable business models for Internet television.”
