Oh, Canada to host new SCTE conference
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - September 04, 2008

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) will hold its inaugural SCTE Canadian Summit Feb. 3–4, 2009, in Toronto.

The SCTE Canadian Summit 2009 is designed to facilitate an exchange of technical information for Canadian engineering professionals to help them maximize opportunities and overcome challenges specific to the cable telecommunications industry in Canada, both now and in the near future.

The first year of the Summit will feature technical exhibits and workshops, general sessions and networking opportunities – all designed toward the effective integration of new technologies into existing cable infrastructures to streamline operations and improve customer satisfaction.

SCTE board of directors member Dermot J. O’Carroll, who is the SCTE’s director-at-large for Canada, will serve as the chair of the 2009 Summit. O’Carroll is senior vice president of network engineering and operations with Rogers Cable Communications in Toronto.

The start of registration and information about exhibiting will be available soon on the SCTE’s Web site. The SCTE will make an additional announcement once those details become finalized and available.
